We all know they are happening, and today more than ever, running a successful Home Infusion and HME business means maintaining efficient billing and AR management. Working harder, faster and spinning your wheels isn’t efficient if you are doing the wrong things or doing things wrong. But how do you really know what the process breakdowns are if you can’t manage what you can’t measure? For those of you who are billing out delivery tickets within 2-3 days, generating over 90% clean claims and have DSOs that average 55 days - congratulations. For the rest of you, what are you doing to improve accuracy and efficiency?

Ask yourself three simple questions:

Are my processes automated?

With CPR+ and RemitDATA’s seamless integration, RemitDATA can automatically pull ERN’s from CPR+ to allow Infusion and HME providers the ability to automatically work, track and report denials, review forms, perform EOB searches, and automate the process of secondary billing. Not only does RemitDATA automate ERNs for Medicare, but for commercial payors as well.

What metrics do I use to measure my effectiveness?

What are your top ten HCPCS codes and their denial rates ranked by dollar amount? Do you know your DSOs for A4222?

These key metrics are just a few examples of the web-based reports RemitDATA’s reimbursement tool continues to provide CPR+ customers. The simple interface of CPR+ and RemitDATA allows CPR+ customers to instantly analyze their ERNs and have real-time access to payor analytics that will significantly reduce your denial rate, improve operational efficiencies and increase your cash flow!

How do I equip and manage the billing staff?

By providing an online and self-motivated environment that presents a complete picture of your AR for your team. In order to become self-sufficient, productive and accountable, providers must empower and provide their billing managers and collectors with the necessary tools to become lean and mean. RemitDATA’s interface with CPR+ provides your AR team with the necessary tools to track and work denials in record time, automate secondary billing, as well as, review forms and EOB search functions. Now Billing Managers will have a complete picture of what’s being worked, when, and by whom. This online tracking is a revolutionary change. No more handing out stacks of paper EOBs and hoping that the right thing is being done to collect your cash.

The CPR+ Prescriptions Dispensed Report is not just a simple report. Combined with the Controlled Substance Reporting module, it’s a one-stop compliance shop for your state pharmacy reporting needs.

From the Main Menu, select Reports (4) > Pharmacy Reports (2) > Prescriptions Dispensed Report (2). Select the date range of prescriptions you want to report on. The menu gives you many, many options: you can choose the sort order, whether to include additional information, New, Refills or Both types of dispenses, and deleted or discontinued prescriptions. You can choose to just view the log information (View Rx Disp. Log checkbox) and sort it by whatever column you choose; the information will print in the same format as the full report, but sorted by the column you selected.

These reports have many potential uses. Sort by Pharmacist to look at productivity and volume. Filter for new prescriptions only to see what kind of new business is going out the door (or Refills only to see where your repeat business comes from). View the log and sort by Physician to see where your marketing efforts are succeeding – or where they need to improve.

If you have the CPR+ Controlled Substance Reporting module, you can select the option to create ASAP data, and the required information will be exported in the format your state requires. Check with your state agency to see if Controlled Substance Reporting is required (and available) for your state.

Since the early DOS days, we have had a minimum screen resolution of 800 x 600. That was what the normal monitor displayed about 15 years ago! The 800 x 600 screen resolution is VERY OLD and limits how much information we can display on any given screen – the patient search grid, the demographic screen, the SPM, etc.

Beginning with CPR+ v8.3a, (planned release this fall,) we will be increasing our minimum screen resolution to 1024 x 768. Once this change is in effect, we’ll be able to make some forms a little larger (up to 30% or so larger) and be able to fit more information in the window (form, screen, etc.)

Here’s one of Customer Support Representative Jacque Williams’ favorite tips:

Are your claims rejecting because you’re sending the doctor’s UPIN or other license number? If you want to send ONLY the NPI, then Option #13 under the 1500 Options tab should be blank. [Databases (7) > Insurance Companies (4) > select a company > Edit (F4) > 1500 Options tab > Option #13.]

If so, CPR+ will pull the doctor’s NPI onto the invoice, and no other identifier. If you want / need one of the legacy identifiers to print as well as the NPI, select UPIN, MCD, DEA, etc. from the pop-up list.
