Do diagnosis code changes cause you to spend your day searching through patients, orders, invoices, CMN/SMN’s to change the code? Fret no more!! CPR+ has added a Diagnosis Analysis Report in version 8.1. Yes, your job just got a little easier, so pace yourselves! When an ICD9 code changes, you need an easy way to locate the out of date code in CPR+. From the Main Menu, go to Reports (4) > Billing Reports (4) > Misc. Billing Reports (7) > Diagnosis Analysis (B). The Options Window (see below) allows you to choose the areas to investigate: Patients, Orders, Invoices, and CMN/SMN’s. You can choose one, or any combination of the four areas. Also, if you need to find the code in all your patient records, even those that are not “Active”, just uncheck the “Active Patients Only” checkbox. Once you enter the code and press F2, press F2 again to print the report. The Diagnosis Analysis Report will look similar to the one below, listing the patient’s name and the description of the document or area where the code can be found.
Use your report to quickly locate the patient. In the example report, our patient Bubba has the offending code in all four areas. Go to the Patient Menu, click Demographic / Financial (A) and you will find the diagnosis code under the Dx / Med HX tab (Patients) and under the Orders tab (Orders). Back at the Patient Menu, select Supporting Documentation (E) to find the code on a CMN or SMN (CMN/SMN). And finally, from the Patient Account Status Screen, select the invoice, (the invoice number will appear on the report) select Edit Invoice, and you'll find the code under the Diagnosis tab (Invoices). Just remember 4-4-7-B! CPR+ gives you two ways to report your Therapy Days: based on Orders in the Medication Profile, and based on Confirmed Delivery Tickets. I prefer the tickets method. Here’s why:
To run the report, from the Main Menu, select Reports (4) > Pharmacy Reports (2) > Therapy Days Report (4). Complete your preferences on the Report Option window, then select Continue (F2). The report calculates therapy days for prescriptions dispensed to Confirmed Delivery Tickets within the date range you specified, based on the number of therapy days assigned to the prescription. Therapy days are not the same as patient days – if you have patients on multiple therapies, those patients will show up more than once. To exclude your flushes from your therapy days, assign them to a “flush” therapy type, and just ignore that therapy type. If you don’t want to do it that way, export the report to Excel (my favorite trick for customizing!), sort by drug, and delete the flushes from the list. Re-sort by Therapy Type and subtotal, and the report will show Therapy Days only for the drugs you want to count. |
