Looking at the Medi-Span Module

Medi-Span is a module that can be purchased that will give your business the ability to do the following within CPR+:

Print Patient Drug Monographs from the Medication Profile. The monographs contain the following categories: Possible Side Effects, Before Using This Medication Indications, Overdose Information, and Additional Information.

Automatic Monthly AWP Price Updates. When you install the monthly Medi-Span disk, the system will go through your inventory, item by item, and change any AWP's (each and package) if they are different than the AWP in the Medi-Span Med-File. Only items with matching NDC’s will be updated. At the end of the update, CPR+ displays the number of inventory items that were updated with the latest AWP.

Look up drugs easily by Name or NDC number. CPR+ gives you the ability to search an item in the Med-File by Drug Name or NDC. If you choose to search by Name, simply type in the name of the item, for example, enter Vancomycin, and the Med-File will return any matching drugs with the name Vancomycin. Once an item is selected, you will then be prompted to select the correct NDC for that item. When you select the correct NDC you are prompted with the Medi-Span Item information for that drug. You will see the Medi-Span Item Name, the NDC#, Route, Dosage, Strength, Package size, Quantity/Package, AWP/Each, Manufacturer. You can also press “View Pricing History” for the item and see a history of the Average Wholesale Unit Price, Direct Package Price, Direct Unit Price, and the Wholesale Acquisition Cost Unit Price.

Easily add Drugs to your CPR+ Inventory Database. When you add an inventory item to CPR+ through Medi-Span, the following fields will auto-populate: Drug Item Name, Brand Name, Generic Name, Strength, Unit of Measure, Quantity per Each, NDC, Manufacturer, Quantity/Package, ASP/Each, AWP/Package, and AWP/Each.

Automatically screen for Duplicate Drug Therapies, Drug-Drug, Drug-Allergy, Drug-Disease, Drug-Food and Drug-Alcohol Interactions. Screening abilities include:

  • Minimum Severity Code - There are four different severity options for interactions to check: all severity levels, minor, moderate and major.
  • Minimum Documentation Code - This indicates the quality of the clinical and scientific literature supporting the occurrence of a detrimental interaction.
  • Screen Food - Set this to automatically screen or not screen for food-drug interactions.
  • Screen Alcohol-Drug - Set this to automatically screen or not screen for alcohol-drug interactions.
  • Screen All Drugs when Filling Prescriptions - This determines when to screen for drug interactions. You can screen all known drugs when filling an Rx, all active medications, or choose not to screen any drugs.

You can also purchase the Spanish Monographs, so that the Drug Education Monographs print in Spanish for any patient that has a language of Spanish designated in the demographics section of CPR+.

Have you ever wanted to streamline your processes in CPR+? Are you currently using Enterprise but feel as if you are not using Enterprise to its full potential? If you answered yes to either of these questions, then I have the class for you!  The 2008 User Conference will offer two sessions focusing on CPR+ Enterprise Rx, with the first class building into the second class. This class is great for those customers that have purchased Enterprise and have yet to fully implement it in their office, those looking to refine their current use of Enterprise, or simply those who do not have Enterprise, but would like to implement it in their system.

Enterprise takes the core functionality of the CPR+ program - entering patients, new orders, authorizations, prescription setup, labeling and dispensing, and delivery functions - and streamlines them through a series of work queues. The key component of CPR+ Enterprise is the Enterprise List Manager. It gives you access to all of the Enterprise Lists – with a counter that records the number of items in each list. These totals will refresh in real-time, giving you a productivity “dashboard” for constant monitoring of all key business activity. See at a glance how many patients have incomplete information, how many prescriptions are ready to process, how many Delivery Tickets are ready to print, confirm or bill, how many electronic pharmacy claims are ready to transmit, and much more!

This class will focus on the Enterprise Rx, where you will learn how to do all of the following:

  • Identify Required Patient Fields.
  • Enter Orders and Identify Authorization and Supporting Documentation Requirements.
  • Create a Test Claim for the Drug to be Dispensed.
  • Setup Working Delivery Tickets.
  • Collect Patient Co-payments with a Credit or Debit Card.
  • Setup Batch Prescription Processing.
  • Select Lot Numbers after Printing Labels.
  • Manage Patient Refills.
  • Manage Prescriptions with Zero Doses Remaining.
  • Edit and Adjudicate NCPDP Claims.

Join us at the 2008 User Conference and learn how to get more out of your Enterprise Rx list!
