Getting the Job Done with the CPR+ Listserv

Have you ever had a tough question about your job and wished that you could ask someone who does the same thing you do...someone who has the exact answer you need?

Have you ever wondered how to handle a clinical or billing situation in CPR+ in the best way possible?

Have you ever wondered how other home infusion and medical equipment companies are handling regulatory changes that are coming down on the industry?

Most likely you have had these types of questions, and the help you need is right in your email program – the CPR+ Listserv.

What is the CPR+ Listserv?

The CPR+ Listserv is an email-based discussion board broken down into two areas: “General / Billing” topics and “Clinical” topics. Messages posted to the Listserv are sent by subscribers via standard email to a specific address, then duplicated and sent out by the CPR+ Listserv software to all subscribers of the Listserv. Replies are handled the same way – by using the standard email Reply function and typing in a response. There is no need to open your browser and go to a web page. And the Listserv won’t clutter up your Inbox either, no matter how many messages and topics.

What is Discussed on the CPR+ Listserv?

The topics are varied and in many cases do not even relate to the CPR+ software itself. Questions range from medication stability to Medicare policy and reimbursements. The number of topics discussed since the CPR+ Listserv was launched many years ago is virtually immeasurable.

All posted messages are maintained in the CPR+ Listserv Archives, and are available to subscribers via a listserv web site. So if you missed some messages, or delete them out of your email software – no problem – you can always go back and find them.

Who is Using the CPR+ Listserv?

Currently there are 789 subscribers to the CPR+ General Listserv and 222 subscribers to the CPR+ Clinical Listserv. However, we estimate that there are well over 10,000 daily users of CPR+. So, there are obviously quite a few CPR+ users that are not taking advantage of this incredible resource! And, for those of you who ARE subscribers, how much more valuable would the Listserv be with thousands of CPR+ users at your disposal?

2,000 CPR+ Listserv Subscribers by October 3rd

Our goal is to have 2,000 subscribers to the CPR+ Listserv by the next CPR+ User Conference, October 3-5, 2008. Help us meet that goal!

CPR+ User Conference Highlight: Multi-Therapy Pharmacy Processing

Through the course of designing and conducting User Conferences, we have had many customer suggestions on how we can improve the overall experience. One such suggestion is to introduce higher-level processing in CPR+. It is to this request that the multi-therapy pharmacy processing course is designed.

Here’s the scenario: you get a referral for a patient that is on TPN, antibiotics, Procrit, and Pepcid. What are best practices for managing this patient’s orders, Medication Profile, and clinical documentation? These are the questions that the multi-therapy pharmacy class will answer.

This class follows the prescription processing classes in which the preceding medications will be filled. The focus of the course will be to review the following processes:

  • Create a Medication Profile and screen for interactions
  • Create a Pharmacy Care Plan
  • Create a Delivery Ticket with pump and supplies
  • Enter a Progress Note
  • Add labs and schedule subsequent lab draws
  • Manage Prescriptions Dispensed Report
  • Inventory deductions and partial vial usage
  • Enter a Verbal Order
  • Discontinue a prescription
  • Void a prescription fill
  • Disease State Management (via Custom Assessment) for the Procrit
  • Return / Exchange the pump
  • Discharge the patient from service.

As you can see, there is a great deal of information and processes to cover in this class and as such, it will be a double session. There will be opportunities within the course for discussion of best practices with your peers. This class is designed to discuss the clinical documentation and patient management aspects of CPR+ using real world scenarios.

Tip of the Week

Splitting a Line Item

For those of you who have payors that require you to split line items by Therapy Day, we have a function you can use to split one line item that spans several dates into one line per day with the appropriate units and pricing per day.

What used to display as one line item with a quantity of several, on the Line Items screen with a date span, can now be split into one line per day with the appropriate dose and price per day.  To use this function, edit the invoice, go to the Line Items screen, highlight the line item and press <Ctrl+S>, and click “Yes” to continue.
