So, you have a situation where, for example, Medicaid limits mic-key buttons to one per month; how do you know (without looking through Delivery Ticket history) that you can, or cannot, dispense this item with the current delivery? Over the years, CPR+ users have developed methods of tracking dispensed quantities using recurring supply functionality, dispensing reports and other tools. We are pleased to announce that it is time to say good-bye to these work-arounds! Version 8.1 of CPR+ will include new functionality that will track quantity limits at the payor and patient levels. Naturally, this new functionality will require that we have a class conducted during the User Conference to review how this works. This class will cover the theory behind the change as well as how to use it in daily operations. Essentially, this limit would be set in the Special Price Matrix for Medicaid and if the item is on a Delivery Ticket that has a date range within the month's time of the new Delivery Ticket, a quantity warning will be given. In addition to adding it at the Special Price Matrix level, an "override" can be added at the authorization level, per patient. Pretty cool, huh? The class will review how to set quantity limits, by item, in the Special Price Matrix. Quantity limits can be set for periods of “Daily”, “Weekly”, or “Monthly”. These periods are based on calendar periods, that is to say “Monthly” counts the calendar month (from the first), etc. The class will then continue by reviewing how these quantities are used in Delivery Ticket creation. On the working Delivery Ticket, we will check all items and if any have limits that have been reached, the user receives a warning. This is calculated by looking at all tickets for that HCPC, for the patient, confirmed and unconfirmed, summing up the quantities used for the "period" (based on the ticket's FROM date and including the quantity on the current working ticket), thus generating a warning for the user. This warning states “The following items have exceeded the current limit for this patient”. This warning also displays the HCPC, the documented limit, and the current amount sent for the period. Finally, this class will look at over-riding quantity limits at the patient level. This is done by creating an authorization for the item. CPR+ will use this figure rather than the quantity in the Special Price Matrix to determine if the patient is over the limit or not. I’ll bet that you have 100 questions about how this will work for your organization…well, you’ll just have to come to the User Conference and take the class! (By the way, does this give you any ideas about tracking the number of authorized Nursing Visits?) We’ll see you at the conference! Even though National RN Recognition Day has been over for several weeks, I thought it would be a great idea to discuss what our customers decided to get for their nursing staff as a sign of appreciation for the significant work that they perform. After all, nurses are the backbone of the healthcare industry, right? (Not just stating that because one of our owners is one.) What’s that you say? You didn’t get ANYTHING for your nurses this year?! Please read on and I might be able to assist you in this dilemma. Your nurses are in the field, day in and day out making sure that care plans, assessments, and information for the patient are kept up-to-date in order to ensure they receive the best treatment possible from your pharmacy. Most of the time, this information has to be stored on paper forms and then entered into CPR+ upon returning to the office. There are several problems with this method that ultimately make a nurse’s job more difficult and negatively affect the bottom line of your business in regards to utilization of time. Paper can easily get lost when making multiple patient visits throughout the day. Even worse, the time it takes to record information on paper gets doubled when it has to be manually transferred into CPR+ back at the office. These problems can be addressed by arming your beloved nursing staff with a laptop computer and CPR+ Mobile.
CPR+ Mobile is a streamlined version of CPR+ built specifically for your nursing staff as they work in the field. The application allows your field nurses to work on custom assessments, progress notes, patient information, and much more while they are on site with their patients. Work that is recorded in CPR+ Mobile can easily be synced back into your CPR+ system when your nurses return to the office. With some help from your IT team, your nurses can even upload their work remotely as long as they have a stable internet connection…yes, that means you can work from the coffee shop. Just think how delighted your nursing staff will be when they no longer have to carry note pads around with them as they make their patient visits. They can easily upload their work to the office while enjoying a macchiato (that’s 4 shots of espresso with 2 dollops of foam…not the heavy syrup with whipped cream stuff!) The next National RN Recognition Day won’t be here until 5.6.2009. Surely you aren’t going to make your nurses wait that long are you? Currently we are offering CPR+ Mobile at 50% off the first license until the end of June. As always, your team can schedule a demo of the module by contacting me at 614.543.8852 or nicholas.tieu@cprplus.com. |
