CPR+ Backup Service on Track for July Rollout

As many of you probably know, D.H.S. is developing a fully-integrated Backup Service for CPR+ customers. The service will perform automated nightly backups of your CPR+ data, and transfer the data securely to an off-site location via your internet connection. The service is aimed as a “hands-off”, “sleep-good-at-night” benefit for customers to ensure that they always have a verifiable backup of their CPR+ data that is, at most, one day old.

In March of this year, five CPR+ customers signed on to participate as beta testers for this new service. The service has been in testing by four of the five customers for approximately two months. D.H.S. has assigned a Level 3 Support Rep, Mark Wotring, and a Programmer, Tom Rooker, to work closely with our beta testers and to bring this product successfully to the rest of our customer base.

Verified Backups

One of the key aspects of this service is ensuring that your data backups are verified, as I emphasized in my article on Disaster Recovery in the March 4th issue of this newsletter. If you have not read this article, I strongly suggest it.

Verifiability is a major function of performing backups, because a backup that cannot be restored is a useless backup -- and the lack of knowledge of the verifiability of the data could lead to a disastrous situation of complete data loss for days, weeks, or even months.

To address this, D.H.S. is in the process of enhancing the current CPR+ Backup Service by adding an automated verification function that is built into the process. We are converting our backup server from a straight FTP data storage utility to a Windows-based server. The purpose of this is to embed a function that, after the backup file is transferred from your CPR+ database server to our backup server, the service will decrypt, uncompress, and verify your data to ensure that it is exactly the same as it was when backed up, and that it can be successfully restored back into your CPR+ system intact.

Over the next several weeks, all of our beta testers will have their Backup Service switched over to transfer to the new server, and we will test the functionality of this built-in verification step.

Backup Service Rollout

Based on the progress of the development and testing of the Backup Service, we are anticipating a mid-July rollout to all interested customers. Depending on demand, we may have to phase in customers based on a first-come, first-serve basis.

User Conference Class Highlight: Managing Deliveries

Product delivery and returns are a part of your everyday routine; this class is designed to allow you to get the most out of your Delivery Tickets. The course will begin with an overview of Supply Kit Template creation and usage – hints and tips for categorizing and setting up templates to streamline Working Delivery Ticket creation. Supply Kit Templates can assist you in better inventory management by pre-selecting most commonly stocked supply items. Additionally, the Supply Kit Templates can save money and maximize profitability by allowing you to select items with the best cost-to-reimbursement ratio.

This class will continue with the creation of Delivery Tickets using the Supply Kit Templates. It is important to note that one of the planned additions for 8.1 is the association of a Supply Kit Template to an Inventory Item. This addition will automatically pull the supply items from the template onto the Delivery Ticket when that item is added to the ticket. This means that you do not need to remember which template is appropriate for a certain drug or piece of equipment, CPR+ will add the items from the template associated in the Inventory.

You will also learn how to manage special order items, and other non-inventory billable items on Delivery Tickets. Finally, the class will review new 8.1 functionality that allows for equipment pickups to be added to a Delivery Ticket. This functionality is especially useful for our HME customers – finally, CPR+ has the ability to create an “exchange” ticket! Make sure that you don’t miss this class.
