“Where in the world did How many times have you heard that question floating around the office? Well, its actually pretty simple. Do you know the answer? Does your staff? Read on. In terms of how CPR+ calculates the price for a drug, supply, a piece of rental equipment or a non-inventory billable item, the answer to that question is, "one of two . . . actually, make that three places." The three places that CPR+ uses to calculate the price of item are . . . drumroll please:
If there is an SPM attached to the payor that is assigned to the Order or Delivery Ticket, CPR+ will use the Special Price from that SPM every single time. If there is no SPM, CPR+ will use the item’s Inventory 'List Price.' See? Pretty simple.
So when was the last time that you looked at your Special Price Matrices? If your claims are being generated with the correct Billed and Expected amounts, maybe it’s been awhile. Well, in the spirit of the New Year, let’s all resolve to make sure our SPM’s are setup correctly. After all, the Special Price Matrix has been the backbone of the billing process in CPR+ for years and the SPM backbone just got stronger with the v8.0 release. Let's take a look at a few significant changes to the SPM. The most obvious is that the SPM now appears in a split screen format. We like the split-screen interface for database lookups. We started using it in v7 and we’ve expanded its use in v8.0. As you scroll down the left column, the Item Information in the right column changes accordingly, eliminating the need to have to select the item, view it in a separate screen and then close it to return to the list. To see the SPM in the “classic” grid format, click on the small (+) sign in the lower left hand corner labeled Expand. In the left column, you can see the Item Name, the Price Code, the HCPC, whether or not the item is Billable, and whether or not the item requires an Authorization. On the right, you can view and modify the item information. Note the two tabs in the lower half of the right side – Pricing and Formulation and Rental Item Details. On the Pricing and Formulation tab, you will find the Cost/Ea, AWP/Ea, List/Ea, Special (or Contract) Price and the Expected Price, as well as the formulas for how those values were generated. Next week, we’ll define every field on the SPM (including all those new ones) and we’ll explain how each piece of information is used. Introducing CPR+ for HME Do you or a related organization provide HME services? Did you know that many customers who use CPR+ for their Infusion business also manage their HME operation with CPR+? Did you know that we have just introduced an HME only version of CPR+ that you can run concurrently with the original version (sharing all the common data files)? It's all true. Our New Year’s Resolution is to eliminate the dual entry that some of you are suffering through because you’re using two different systems for your HME and IV operations. CPR+ for HME is a streamlined and simplified version of CPR+ that excludes all of the clinical pharmacy and drug inventory aspects of the main system, and adds some great new functionality designed especially for an HME provider. Employees who are focused on the HME aspects of your business can run the HME version and still share patient data, inventory, billing, A/R, etc. If you’d like more information or a demonstration of CPR+ for HME, call 866-277-4876 and speak to a Sales Rep today. |

Understanding the Customer Profile: CPR+ Tip of the Week CPR+ Function Keys By Stuart Crane One of the major design goals of CPR+ is to make the program easy to get around – whether you like using the keyboard or a mouse. Because CPR+ started out as a DOS (character-based) application, the F1 - F12 function keys were the main way to access many of the different screens, windows and functions. Most screens now contain buttons at the bottom to execute various functions, but they can also be run by pressing a function key assigned to the button. There are literally hundreds of function keys throughout the entire program…wouldn’t it be nice to have a list of ALL of them, in one place? Well, now we do. Click on the link below to view/download a PDF file that contains a list of all screens and the function keys that are available from each screen. This document does not contain the specific details (Help) for each function key – that is what our F1 Help screens are for. But it is a handy reference guide for you and the rest of your users. Tell us what system you use for your HME business and how happy you are with it, and what is the #1 new HME related feature you’d like us to add to CPR+. Then, we’ll enter you into a drawing to win a $100 Best Buy gift card. Click here to take the survey.
